On March 13–14 2026
the Nutrien Western Event Centre in Calgary will transform into Sumo Fest 2026— Canada’s first celebration of sumo wrestling and Japanese culture.
AN EXTRAORDINARY GATHERING
of world-champion sumo wrestlers, traditionally inspired performances, immersive cultural exhibitions, tasting experiences, and more!
Watch top-ranked sumo wrestlers collide in live matches from only a few feet away, with the energy of the match and the crowd all around you. Each live sumo show runs for about 90 minutes, packed with matches, ceremony, and storytelling.
Sumo is Japan’s ancient full-contact sport—fast, powerful, and rich with tradition. Matches are short and intense, with wrestlers relying on skill, balance, and pure strength to win inside the dohyo (the circular ring).
Sumo Fest takes place March 13 & 14, 2026, with multiple showtimes running on both Friday and Saturday.
No, Sumo Fest will not be a traditional sumo tournament. Each day will feature a 90-minute sumo performance, and each performance is self-contained (results do not carry over). Sumo Fest is designed to be a condensed, approachable way to experience elements of Japanese culture and sumo. Think of it as a “best-of” introduction—authentically-inspired, high-energy, and made for everyone.
Tickets are available on Showpass with multiple seat tiers from GA to VIP Ringside!
